❄️ December – February: Winters are cold, snowy, and magical, especially in Riga’s Old Town. Expect temperatures between -6°C (21°F) and 2°C (36°F). It’s a great time for festive markets and winter landscapes.

🌱 March – May: Spring brings thawing rivers, blooming flowers, and warming days. Outdoor activities become more enjoyable as temperatures rise from 4°C (39°F) to 16°C (61°F).

☀️ June – August: Summer is warm and sunny, perfect for exploring cities and relaxing on the Baltic coast. Temperatures range from 17°C (63°F) to 27°C (81°F), and daylight can last well past 10 p.m.

🍂 September – November: Autumn colors sweep across Latvia’s forests and countryside. Temperatures begin to drop, ranging from 15°C (59°F) in September to 4°C (39°F) in November.

Getting around Latvia is simple and budget-friendly:

🚌 Buses: Buses are the most common mode of transport, with regular services connecting Riga to towns across the country. They are affordable and punctual, even for small villages.

🚂 Trains: Train services operate between major cities like Riga, Jelgava, and Daugavpils. Trains are generally slower than buses but offer scenic views and comfort.

🚗 Car Rental: Renting a car is a great way to explore national parks and rural regions. Roads are generally in good condition. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended if your license is not in Latin script.

Bank cards are widely accepted in Latvia, especially in Riga and other urban areas. Visa and Mastercard are commonly used. Cash (euros) is still useful in small towns, markets, or countryside guesthouses.

Latvia uses plug types C and F, both with two round pins. The standard voltage is 230V and the frequency is 50Hz.
