HELLO, TRAVELER

Thank you for checking out The Blog Trotter, the travel blog aiming to make responsible travel easy, with a focus on ethical wildlife tourism.

The brains behind the blog

I’m Shabnam (but feel free to call me Sha), a French travel lover, photographer, writer, and the mind behind ‘The Blog Trotter’. I’m based in Paris and I explore the world as much as I can, between my 9-to-5!

My love affair with travel began early, through regular family summer trips to Iran, where my parents are from. Throughout my teenage years – and being lucky to live in Europe – I was able to visit more places, such as Rome, Lisbon, London or Athens, as part of school trips or family getaways. Although being simple, easy trips, it was way enough to ignite my wanderlust! In my early 20s, I travelled independently for the very first time for a student exchange program in Croatia and I got addicted to the freedom feeling that solo travel provides.

In 2019, I invested in a DSLR camera, the first ‘big purchase’ made with my first-ever full salary! Ever since I continuously learn about photography and use it to document my travels. Fast forward to 2023, I am now starting The Blog Trotter project, as a way to share the details about my experiences and help you do a little exploring yourself.

The Blog Trotter's mission

If there’s one thing in the world that I love as much as travel – if not more – it’s animals. I’ve been vegan for most of my adult life, and I can’t imagine living my life any other way.

So, obviously, sustainability and animal welfare are close to my heart. This is why I don’t want this space to be ‘just another travel blog‘ in a digital sea full of them. My aim is to help travellers explore the world responsibly. Here, you will find a collection of curated itineraries, vegan travel guides and information on ethical wildlife tourism.

Now, I am not perfect (who is, though?) but I genuinely believe we can all do better when it comes to sustainable travel and ecotourism. Progress may come in many shapes and forms: travelling slowly, supporting local family-run businesses, or avoiding zoos are only a few examples. At least, that is the way of travelling I want to promote here.

Thank you for embarking on this (digital) journey with me. Happy exploring,

Sha
